Yuna shrugged as she turned her magenta gaze away, back towards where her camp was situated just on the edge of the Everfree Forest, when Discord questioned her on being homeless. He came off as genuinely curious about it. A hoof drifted up to adjust her shawl, and the strap of her bag around her middle that thankfully kept it in place since she'd first fallen on her rump. It was an idle gesture while she considered how she could possibly explain any mortal thing to an all powerful god of chaos.
"I travel a lot, and while it's something I've grown used to, sleeping at the inn for a while and in the homes of one of my companions in another country, I kind of like having a shelter to return to.. which we currently don't have. I've had a wagon that's been my home for a while, but since picking up my companions along the way," more like all at once, from the way they came together, "it's not big enough for all of us. Only one, single-pony bed and there are four of us." So long as Tarnished and Gleam still shared a body, that was.
"Homeless.. is fine. I'm used to being homeless. My friends, probably not so much. And so long as we've picked Ponyville as our home, I really want them to have a place to stay. Shelter. Where we can bathe, and lounge comfortably. A roof and walls to keep out the weather, and a place where we won't end up freezing during autumn nights, or through winter. Summer isn't going to last much longer. Ponyville is.. I guess, so far, our home, but making it so doesn't mean we're not homeless." Had she started talking in circles yet, in an effort to explain? Possibly not, thus far.
"Do you.. understand what I'm trying to explain? We can't keep roughing it and sleeping on the ground or under flimsy shelters. They deserve more than that."

He nosy spirit followed her gaze as she looked towards Everfree. Not a place he enjoyed. It was always difficult to compose his powers in theee. One could not create chaos in a place that was wholly unpredictable. It would only grow worse the closer to the castle ruins he came. He snorted softly before his red and yellow eyes returned to the smaller pony. She seems to have calmed, though the layer of uneasiness that he thought was earlier formed due to his presence, had solidified as she began to speak. Ears would swivel forward as he became attentive.
She began to speak of her companions and their constant traveling. As Yuna's story was weaved the spirit slowly lowered to the ground and tucked his rump against the grass. There was an unreadable expression drawn on his face. His grey brows knitted as the left edge of his mizzle's lips curled up, causing his cheek to scrunch the edges of his muzzle. Her words drew up, from a well of compacted memories, them.
They too had traveled, searching for places. They had made a home, a place to play and live so they no longer had to travel, so they could always be found. In all honesty had they not constructed that castle he could have never found them when it came time to play one, last game.
He had conflicted emotions when it came to their greater confrontation.
On one paw he got their attention. On the other claw he had scarred the land and misrepresented his desires, turning them violent.
Discord looked annoyed. And he was! Leave it to a pony to be all emotional and make him feel rotten about teasing them. He wanted to turn her off to the idea, but that would have been cruel. He stood up on all fours and rolled his eyes, head rolling like the diva he was.
"Oh, very well, you've convinced me." He looked at her and raised his claws to wiggle them defiantly at her, like some effeminate pirate. "But don't think you can win my over with a sob story everytime. I suppose your actions are admirable." He resisted. "While I would like to say you can avoid the beaurecratic red tape, you do actually have to let the mayor know your family is moving in." How the spirit hated census so, anything government really.
He pushed to float up, looking at her. "Tell them you will be moving into the cottage that sits two fields from the market place. It's vacant. Dort of. Check it out. You'll love it." He grinned before vanishing.
He would follow her. There was a reason he suggested the place in particular. It was to her specifications and more. A two stoey, quaint home with a wood thatched roof rather than hay. Grey stone, rather than whitewashed walls. Flowers over growing along the property and a stonewall to the enteance. It was pretty secluded, yet still close to town.

There was relief when it was clear Discord did understand what she was trying to explain. Good. It meant she wouldn't have to continually struggle to explain their minuscule lives to him. Yuna relaxed, only to ruffle.
"It's not a sob story!" Yuna protested, her body stiffening and her head lifting higher up to glare at the discordant spirit. Within a few seconds, she forced herself to settle, but a frown still lay across her face as Discord spoke to her. They still would have to deal with the mayor, and making themselves known as new residents. "Well.. if we have to." She didn't like it much, since there was the potential to be.. found, but it would have to happen regardless.
The alicorn turned away to glance in the direction she knew the marketplace to be. A house for them there? It sounded nice, but it depended entirely on how affordable it might be.. When Yuna turned back to Discord, he'd vanished; all she saw of this was a fading flash of white. The mare scowled but for a moment, before her curiosity over this house drew her towards the market. She'd been heading there regardless, as it was a prime place to get interested ponies coming to her for their fortunes to be told, their futures read, even again if they thought anything might've changed overnight. Her hooves lead her to the house that Discord had spoken of, empty and alone in the grassy field some distance away, but close enough for needed grocery runs without having to go too far. The flowers were a nice addition, even though she knew they were wild.
"This.. does look nice." Yuna murmured to herself, and made a note to tell the others of it. Perhaps they might like it too, should they not have any other place in mind.

"Isn't it?" In a flash of sass and snark: the snaky spirit appeared in a flash of white smoke. His body was lain across the somewhat worn, white picket fence. His wormy body seemed to perfectly curl up and down against the spaced, wooden planks. His paw's elbow rest against the points end of a plank while his chin moved to rest on it. His claw curled over his furry bicep, his red, spined dragon's tail spooling towards to ground lazily. "It belonged to a retired officer who moved to Canterlot." He waves a pae, manifesting the deed. "It was a gift." He recalled. When he came to being reformed many thought he could do well with a place to live. They all talked about the spirit would be more comfortable in a home than tormenting travellers with his chocolate raining cloud. He never stuck with the idea. He never lived in one place before. It was only after Tirek that he felt his alter ego would be more accepted, but the pain was still there. "You could say I was his neighbor. He moved away to be close to his work. This place had nothing but bad memories build on lies and depiction. Also probably a fault line." Probably? The place was spacious. Very fewell items remained. Across the main room was a massive tapestry of, well, himself! Princesses had self ports it's in their castles, why not he?! It had a kitchen and li ing area. Modest bit also made of stone. It was quite cool! A few closest here and there: pantry, linen, and the like. On the second floor a bedroom. Spacious... all that remained was a space heater. A wasing room, big enough for an adolescent dragon. At the end of the hall was a large, bay window that looked out to the flower filled field. The contract read it's construction date, quite recently, not even a year ago. The land it was on was part of the house's sale. They would get everyrhing, but -- it was quite costly. 10,000 bits. Theread was fine print and, if one magnifyed it they would read it was also for sale at the trade of an Everfree Thistle.

While her gaze roved over the sight of the house, Yuna pondered how much it might cost. It looked nice, and it might even be nicely sized, but.. how much?
The abrupt addition of the draconequus's voice, breaking the silence, startled the poor lady again into flinching, her wings jerking under her shawl as though they could have carried her away from possible danger in an instant. And while Discord was potentially dangerous, he had only come off as helpful so far. Yuna eyed the noodly beast and her gaze slipped from him to the deed that he manifested in one manticore's paw. Her brow furrowed a bit at the explanation, but she didn't try to question any of it. Instead, she chose to approach the house to try to peer through one, slightly dusty window to what lay within. Yuna could only see what lay on the first floor, which was a strange mix of belongings.
"So it's not.. inhabited by anypony?" She asked, turning away to move back to eye the deed that he still held. If he let her close enough to read what it said, that was, without pulling some startling prank. Her eyes roved over what was writ upon the paper, and the moment she reached the price.. she balked. Ten thousand bits! They still didn't have near enough for that! Unfortunately, Yuna also didn't have a magnifying glass to read any of the fine print, let alone notice it.
"Oh, jeeze.. that's too much. We can't.. We can't afford that!"

Waited for the mare to read over the cotract before rolling it up in his paw, waving it lazily as he continured to lounge. She seemed, reasonably distressed. But he was a bit disappointed. Was she really a good, litthe mare. He could see she was not faking the stoey, to how annoyed she became when he claimed it was all boohoo. Her genuine dismay and failure to bribe him. He pressed the deed against his feathered chest, causing it to vanish.
He sighed through his nose.
"Alright, if you can entertain me, I will give you the dee. Riddles. The officer loved eiddles. If you can solve this one, I will give it to you, but I must think accept the answer." He noted. "Two riddles," he motioned his paw. "So you don't feel cheated." He chuckled. "Areally you ready?"
It couldn't be so simple, right? A mind game for a home? And one so large? It had to be a trick right? Yet thus far not a speck of dishonesty from his muzzle. Just annoying references and context.
"Are you a mare?" He asked. "Can you use magic?" He added. "Where were you born. Have you any pets? What was rba first question I asked?" The first one seemed easy enough...
Right?
"What is something you love, but can never be replaced?" Second riddle.

Yuna sank back onto her haunches, seating herself before the lounging spirit as he whisked away the deed. She had no idea where it could've gone, unless he had a way of teleporting such things to.. wherever a god of chaos held anything. Those dark magenta eyes switched from his chest, where the deed had been pressed previously, to Discord's face. Riddles? Oh. She wasn't too good with riddles.
Her lips parted when the first came. It didn't sound like a riddle at all, just a bunch of questions. Yuna sat there a moment, thinking them over, wondering if they were just trick questions or if there was somehow a riddle hidden in them, like specific words..
There didn't seem to be anything that amounted to any sort of riddle that she knew of. It didn't make sense, which was sort of expected of the spirit of disharmony. She decided to just answer the questions honestly, as she saw no other way. "Yes, yes, a village in the Unicorn Range, no, and you asked if I was a mare." Yuna didn't think she had any chance of riddling with Discord, anyway. She might as well.
The second question he asked sounded like much more of a riddle than the first, if the first could even be called a riddle. For this Yuna was silent for a much longer period of time as she thought about it. What was something she loved? If he'd asked who, she would've answered with Gleamished, or her herd. They were ponies she loved that she could never replace.. but the specific part of that question was 'what.'
Her life? She liked living, sure, and it couldn't be replaced because she'd be dead. That didn't make sense. Yuna looked a little distressed. Something she loved.. but objects could be replaced. Even if she loved them, even if it was a one-of-a-kind thing (she never owned anything of rarity), they could be replaced. Her wings? They couldn't be replaced, but she wasn't sure she loved them, either. Uuugh, it was so hard to answer!
Maybe she would just answer with what was on her mind. "If you're talking specifically about a 'what,' as in things, objects or material possessions.. they can always be replaced. You can just make a new thing of it and replace it. If that isn't what you mean.. I guess the only thing I can think of is my herd. My family. They're irreplaceable in my opinion."

He laid upon the fence post, like one laid on a bed of nails. He was perfectly still, save for his tail's tip and ears which seemed to twitch ad the more came up with the answer to his riddles. He had to admit his love of riddles was less so with ponies struggling to find the correct answer, but instead he took pleasure in discovering what was a correct answer to the. Introspect was his enemy. You couldn't manipulate another without knowing how they thought and what was important to them. It was the key to being evil. Garnering information to best put yourself at advantage was the only reason any ever got so far.
She, of course got the first riddle wrong. It showed she wasn't one who pinched on details. An easy advantage. His first question had actually been: "Are you ready?" Few, if any, ponies got that one right. Only anal retentive ones like Twilight.
Her following answer... was annoying. He sighed. As if a pony could pass with flying colors like that? Admirable, gross, and very pony. His brows arched as he rolled his eyes, a snort exhaling from his nostrils. By the response one would think she got the answer wrong. The spirit vanished. In a moment afrer he reappeared behind Yuna, floating off the geouns. Crossing his forelimbs over his chest he shook his head, tsk'ing.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I was hoping for a more materialistic answer." Shame. He wanted to see her wail with deapair.
He held out his paw and manifested the deed. A white magic surrounded the paper and it would float to Yuna. His eyes rolled as he set down on the ground. Talon and hoof dug against the grass, showing the considerable weight of the draconequus, even though he seemed rather thin.
"Like I said, he was an officer. While he enjoyes wrecking havoc amongst villanry... he liked when nice ponies stuck it to them and did good regardless of what was expected of them." He walked over to the mare and reached out his paw. "He was an old, grey thing... about your height."
If she let him, the spirit would pat her head, like a good foal, before he vanished. Perhaps, this time, for good. A soft clip clip would be heard down the road. An old, grey pony with a fedora would be making his way into the distancr. Sad, somber music playing in the background.
Wait, what?
Well... that was just... was that real?

Despite knowing she'd gotten them wrong, or feeling like she had, Yuna still worried. If the draconequus had told her what the first riddle was, she would have made a sound of annoyance. She would've known it was a trick, because everything before a riddle was actually asked was never counted as part of it. Damned god of chaos! Her head hung down at Discord's tsk'ing, her mane briefly covering her face in despair. She'd failed, but what was she to expect? Riddles were one thing she'd always had a hard time with, and she was facing the spirit of chaos and disharmony. There was no way a mortal like her could've ever won- her thoughts came to a halt and she lifted her head, eyes wide. There was something about what he'd said that didn't say she lost exactly. The deed. He was giving it to her! "I kind of gave up a lot of material possessions when I.. left home, and it just sort of ceased to matter to me in the end." Yuna shrugged and reached her magic out towards the deed, holding it in hers so he could relinquish it without it fluttering to the ground, or getting swept away by a gentle breeze. She wasn't going to lose this. As soon as she was able, she was going to go running right back to their camp in the Everfree Forest to show her herd! Yuna turned her attention up from it to Discord, catching sight of his lifted paw. Did he wanted to shake on it? No.. he was just patting her on the head. Her ears flattened back and the alicorn looked briefly annoyed. "Huh." The spirit vanished after talking about this officer of his, and as she turned away to go do just what she wanted, she caught sight of that gray pony. What? Yuna shook her head. Too much time spent around Discord as it was, she thought. Another trick, or she was going crazy just by having been near him. It was too bad he didn't stay long enough for Yuna to thank him. Did it matter? Probably. It did to Yuna, because of what kind of pony she was. After waiting a moment and looking at the deed, to see if he might return, the alicorn rolled it up and left for the Everfree Forest. No fortune telling today, if she could help it. They had a house! End.
