Tempest's youth was relatively unremarkable at first. Then known as Fizzlepop; they lived in a small unicorn village in the wilderness of Equestria, where they had friends and grew and learned as any young pony might.
One fateful day, while playing in the woods with some of their friends, their ball rolled into a dark cave. Despite knowing well the warnings of what dangers lay within, Tempest decided to boldly go and get the ball back for the sake of their friends... only to come face to face with an angry Ursa who was none too pleased at being awoken by the tiny intruder. Tempest escaped the angered beast after rescuing the ball, but at a cost- in the process of fleeing, the Ursa shattered their horn and scarred their face with one mighty swing of its paw.
Their friends were concerned, it seemed, right up until Fizzlepop actually recovered and attempted to reunite with them. Now that they were visibly disfigured and no longer able to control their magic with the precision of other unicorns their age, their once-friends began to shun them out of fear and disgust. That was the day that something in the little pony died, with the heartbreak of betrayal destroying their belief in friendship forever. It also didn't take long for their former friends to find new friends and forget about them entirely, and so they decided then to leave their village outright to find somewhere else to belong.
Setting out beyond the badlands south of Equestria, the young unicorn - who would later adopt the name Tempest Shadow, feeling their old name was unsuitable for life in this harsh new land - found themself in the Storm King's dominion. As time passed and they grew larger and stronger, they ended up in the service of the Storm King's mighty army. It was here that they found their hooves, ascending through the ranks in quick order until they became the Commander of the entire army.
Tempest had also practiced with their broken horn, steadily becoming adept at directing its wild and untamed energy to their advantage. It was this, along with their general physical prowess, which gained them a terrifying reputation among the denizens of the Storm King's realm; at the same time securing their position as Commander from challengers who might have otherwise looked down on them for being a pony.
The Storm King eventually set his sights on Equestria, asking for Tempest's advice on how they could combat the demigod-like alicorn Princesses of Equestria. Tempest offered a method by which the alicorns' magic could be sealed into a staff, which the King could then command as he saw fit. And thus plans were drawn up for their campaign. In return, the King promised to restore Tempest's broken horn once the powered-up staff was in his hands.
Unfortunately, as it turned out, the Storm King had lied. Either he had always known he would not be able to restore it, or he had simply never intended to hold up his end of the agreement in the first place. In any case, for the second time in their life they had been deeply betrayed by someone they'd trusted. This time they were not powerless to respond, though- they assisted the Heroines of Equestria in defeating the Storm King once and for all.
During the celebration which followed, they agreed to stay in Equestria and to try to find their place in life once more. Third time's the charm?

Headcanons:
- They are agender, but are okay with she/her pronouns.
- They still strongly prefer to go by the name Tempest Shadow rather than Fizzlepop Berrytwist. Their old name has emotional baggage attached.
- Because they left Equestria as a young foal and grew up beyond the reach of the magic of harmony, they never got a cutie mark.
- They underestimate their (actually decently powerful) magical ability because they never stopped comparing themself to other unicorns, and continue to view themself as 'damaged' in that regard.

Reason applying for:
This character immediately became my favourite non-main horse when I watched the movie.
I've been wanting to get back into pony RP and so this character seemed like the perfect excuse to do so~
How often are you online?
More often than not, I guess?
A roleplay example:
He had enjoyed a feast of negativity brought on by some pretty major nightmares. This human had truly been a good choice. Even if its cover was at risk of being blown by the supernaturals the evidently unwitting human lived with. Still, perhaps as long as their secret remained then so too would the dogs. The dog was enjoying being here, even if the cheeriness rolling off the human was somewhat nauseating. Go back to worrying and moping, damn you. The sound of a visitor arriving piqued the dog's intrigue, but also motivated a level of disdain. Not every human was going to be as clueless as Ryan in regards to canine behaviour. He'd have to pretend to be a bit more doglike if he wanted to remain unnoticed. Ugh. There was something.. off about the visitor, but they seemed human enough? Eh. Whatever. The dog gave a generic bark toward the stranger. Not very friendly, but not hostile either. More of just a 'you've been seen and now I'm watching you', as any might expect a dog to give toward a stranger in their home.
