(09:34:28) Stronghold. Day two in the capital city. So far the knight had encountered numerous over-dressed, haughty unicorns strutting around like ... well, unlike anypony he'd ever seen before. Ponies where he came from certainly didn't get around like that! They had more important things to be worrying about, y'know? Strong had taken to a quiet corner near the waterfalls to relax, and ponder what it was he was meant to do next. Pity that thinking wasn't his strong suit- he was probably gonna be sat here for a long while.
(09:48:37) Hivaan Ironwing found himself both overwhelmed and wary of his ancient homeland. He'd heard stories of Equestria's beauty and majesty that had been passed down from his grandparents to his own parents. However, here the pegasus finally was. The first thing he noticed was how....different...he was compared to the other ponies. Not just because he opted to wear his Ashen cloak even now, but his wings....his size...Even the minute amounts of magical 'corruption' in his form. He was a pony bred for the unending war of the isles, and not...peace, even if peace was what he desired. He made his way, sensing the gaze of even more ponies only to start to feel uncomfortable. He ducked into the nearest alleyway and soon enough found himself emerging near a waterway. A turn of his hooded head would confirm the sound of a waterfall he'd heard. The very sight of such clean water was...comforting even to this day, and he let his gaze drink in the sight of the falling water while shifting to sit on his haunches. Of course the mesmerizing sight made him forget to check the rest of the area otherwise he'd have noticed the presence of another pony. A horrible mistake that would have proven fatal back on the Isles of Ashes.
(09:56:56) Stronghold's ears twitched at the sound of another set of hooves, derailing his train of thought. Eyes were quick to settle on the appearance of another, dusky and broad as some from his own home. Huh. That was unusual for this time and place... With piqued interest, the paler of the two lifted to his hooves and moved toward the new figure. "Hail to thee," he offered from a safe distance, uncertain of how they might react. "I am Knight Stronghold. Art thou also a traveler of lands?"
(10:08:12) Hivaan Ironwing continued to gaze at the waterfall for several minutes. Something buzzed at the back of his mind, his senses picking up the nearby movement. However, he was finally snapped out of the state he found himself by the sound of a voice. He stiffened, a very brief flash coming from the gemstone on his chestplate. However the glow was gone as quick as it came and he turned his head to take in the sight of another pony, eyes widening some. To his shock, this pony was....similar in build to those he was used to back home. "Hail..." he'd respond, blinking a few times. "I am Hivaan Ironwing. I am indeed a traveler...from a long way away." he said as his tail flicked curiously.
(10:15:21) Stronghold gave a nod of acknowledgment to the other's introduction, then smiled lightly toward him. "It appeareth we should have that in common, Hivaan Ironwing." A long way away was also his origin, though perhaps not in precisely the same manner as the other stallion. "I find the atmosphere of this land strange... unrelatable. Though the calm is not unwelcome. Is it as foreign for thee?"
(10:24:14) Hivaan Ironwing me wouldn't have been able to help but let a small smile slip, dipping his head a little. He could tell the knight was from afar, but...something told him that it was more complicated than simple distance. Perhaps it was the way he spoke? He couldn't help but nod in agreement with the stallion, ears perked under the hood. "It is...beyond foreign almost. I come from a land that has been submerged in war for centuries. While I haven't lived to see all those years, I grew up with the fear of attack and constant treachery from within and out. Even the very air was toxic in large quantities to, if that wasn't enough. This place is like....the opposite of where I grew up....but not unwelcome at all, I've grown weary of bloodshed and Ash..."
(10:36:39) Stronghold's brow furrowed and his expression grew serious at the explanation of the other's home. "I too have come from a poisoned realm, reduced to ruin by the very warring that yet continues to be a blight upon it. I fear my brothers have forgotten me here- though if any a land were to receive me as I was cast adrift, I can only be glad it is one as bountiful as this." Finally tiring of standing up, the pegasus' rump dropped back to the soft grass. "I think that it is for the best, I should be left with no manner of return. I am the keeper of little doubt that were they to re-establish contact with this me in this place, they would soon mean to overrun its serenity for their own selfish ends." He gave a quiet sigh at the thought, returning his gaze to the waterfalls nearby. "But those are thoughts one seldom gets to express, especially regarding their superiors."
(10:47:43) Hivaan Ironwing turned his head and looked down at the running water with a small smile. "I agree..." he muttered as he listened to the pegasus whom was still speaking. "I have nobody to return to in general, all I knew was taken the day I decided to flee that forsaken island and fly the ocean. Even with an advantage, I barely made it even still." he continued before frowning and offering a sigh. "I know how you feel, I know if the....rulers... of the isles managed to consolodate their power and set their sights on the main land, they would try to invade. However, the chances of that are.....slim, and they have no boats...travel to and from the island is forbidden and was eventually entirely lost." he'd say before he gained a rather dark look, the gemstone on his chestpiece dimly glowing. "If they eventually do. Tired of battle or not, I refuse....I won't let them ruin the ancestral lands."
(10:56:09) Stronghold looked to the other. The glow of the stone had gone beneath his notice until this point - subconsciously used to the sight of such crystals - but now it caught his eye, even if only for a moment. This stranger became more and more interesting as moments passed! "If things were to come to that, may it be said: I would gladly stand with thee. This shining land must be protected, for those now and for those yet to come."
(11:07:07) Hivaan Ironwing turned his head and couldn't help but offer a full smile. "Hopefully it won't come to that, but it is good to know that I would have somepony on my side that could hold their own." he mused with a bit of a humm. "In the Ashen lands, all we had were our kin and very few allies. Ponies fought other ponies, gryphons, dragons, sphinx. The only small changeling hive was attacked early in the war and the survivors integrated with the ponies. But eventually they died off."
